- Photo-montage
Photo-montage is often used for planning applications were it is important to show the impact of a development on the surrounding area.
The process involves matching the lighting and camera position within the 3D software to that of the photograph. The 3D models are then created and placed within the scene using the photograph as reference for correct positioning. Once the 3D scene is complete and rendered the two images are combined to give the illusion that the scene is real.

Any 3D model can be used for an animation however one that has been used for a single perspective still-image might have limited potential.
